Easy Baby Blanket Tutorial:
Needed Supplies:
1yard cotton fabric
1yard minky fabric
thread
sewing machine
straight pins
Directions:
Begin by cutting your cotton fabric to be 36 1/2 x 36 1/2.
Put your cotton fabric right sides together with your minky fabric. Leave your minky slightly larger because it will stretch.
Next, pin your two pieces together. Use a lot of pins in order to keep the fabrics from shifting. Make sure that you leave a 6''-8'' opening so that you can turn the blanket right side out when you are done.
Now you are reading to sew! Use the cotton fabric as a guide. Put the minky on bottom and sew a 1/4'' straight stick around all four sides of the blanket leaving an opening to turn through.
Now turn your blanket right sides out. Push your corners out using the eraser end of a pencil or your pinky. Pin the blanket again so that you can sew a quick stitch around the outside. Sew a straight line along the very edge of the blanket in a coordinating thread. I used red with this blanket. This will give it a finished look and allow you to sew the opening closed.
That's it! Let me know if you have any questions!!
